Introducing 'Influencers'

About three months ago I was having an in depth discussion with a senior lecturer at my university about things that I am most influenced by. The topic was brought us because she had noticed something about my 'creative style' in all my work which she found interesting. According to her, all my

work follows a more dark and harsh look on reality; things like my storyboards and editing notes are always dim in tone. I had never noticed this before now. And then this evening, one of my crew members commented on a short interview we had shot, that I edited. He said to our peers "You always know if Josh was editing because all of the colour is taken out and everyone looks dead!" This was followed by a room of laughs and nods of heads.

This is all true. Now that I really think about it. I love the dark, the twisted and the macabre.

Starting from January 2018 I am going to be running a series of monthly articles covering various people that have influenced me over the years. I don't want to spoil who/what they are just yet; but each month will cover something different. Maybe a director, an artist or maybe even a musician.

I want to start a discussion, drop me a line on here or via my Twitter of WHO your influencers are and why. If enough people take part, I will feature them each month at the end of each article.

Keep telling stories,

Josh Barker
